This is an outstanding near excellent set that includes an early unaltered WWII steel helmet shell with the front seam. The helmet shell has about 98% of its original non-reflective rough "cork" OD green paint finish and has no dents. The helmet shell features the earlier "fixed bale" chinstrap loops. The near excellent web OD green chinstrap has the earlier darkened brass fittings. The near excellent liner has about 98% of its original OD green paint finish, and features the painted "SC" marking on the interior for the scarce "St. Clair" maker. The OD green web cloth and brown leather liner straps rate near excellent, with a web strap maker-marked for the "JOS. EISENDRATH CO.". The brown leather liner chinstrap rates near excellent.
