Nazi Luftwaffe Officer's 2nd Model Dress Dagger by Tiger with Hangers

This is a very nice Luftwaffe dagger bearing the desirable "Tiger" maker's logo on the blade. The polished steel blade is straight with a nice pointed sharp tip. There is some light spotting on the blade, with a few very small edge dings. The original leather blade washer is present. The aluminum crossguard and pommel have the same greyed finish as does the undented steel scabbard. The scabbard has some surface spotting. The ivory-colored celluloid grip has no significant dings or cracks, just a few tiny edge chips next to the pommel. The springy copper wire grip wrap is complete and tight. The pommel is on the grip very tightly (I haven't tried to take it off). The pebbled scabbard has both its original throat screws present. The dagger hangers rate fine with some typical wear to the straps, and finish aging to the greyed buckles and snaps. This dagger set came with a group of war souvenirs purchased from the son of a WWII U.S. Army veteran who served in the European Theatre during WWII. The veteran, PFC Joseph Schiavi, landed at Omaha Beach during the Invasion. He was later wounded in action on 11/13/1944 in Brest, France and received the Purple Heart.
